Work at Home Opportunities Yes, No, or Maybe?

Working from home can be great, but why should you look into doing it? You have a job. Although it doesn't provide the kind of life you dream about living, you get by. But are you happy?

Think about it: Long hours. Your boss breathing down your neck. That coworker you just can't stand.

And then there is always the pay. It serves as a constant negative reminder in your life. "No, I can't afford it now--no to the electric razor I want, no to the swimming pool the kids want, and no to our anniversary trip to Tahiti. No, no, no!"

And there's no saying that you'll have your blessed job tomorrow either. So what's keeping you from looking for something better?

"It pays the bills."

In other words, it's safe--safer than the alternative of the unknown. But just because something is familiar doesn't mean that it will always be there for you. Life is not certain. Change happens. The question remains, "What are you going to do about it?"

"But what if I fail?" You ask. "What if I loose everything I have? I can't accept failure--I can't."

So you don't.

But how will you pay the bills when one day you no longer have that job? Where will you turn? You'll be without any other income, and THAT is hazardous.

What you should do for a minute is to step outside your emotions. Look at your situation objectively--as if you were analyzing your best friend's situation and advising him.

Most likely you'd say things like, "How will you ever know if there's a better opportunity out there if you never look?" "You can't just trust that your job will always be there--look at Alex. Did anyone ever think he would get laid off?" Or "Your friend Tom started up a candle biz 3 months ago. Why don't you ask him about it?" In other words, you would encourage rather than discourage investigation.

Keep in mind that not everything your mind tells you is right but that neither is everything it tells you wrong either. You just need to learn to tell the difference. And the best way to help you do that is to separate yourself from your feelings.

So give yourself permission to take the plunge and look into some home business opportunities. Who knows? You may just find something you like better.
